Patent is an exclusive right granted to patent holders or inventor(s) for an invention of technology in a form of method or process. To be granted a patent, an invention has to fulfill three requirements: novelty, inventive steps and industrial applicable. To the public or consumers, technology changes rapidly. There is always seem to be an improvement from the previous technology or a completely new technology. But to those companies who made the technology, it could takes years of exhaustive researches and huge amount of money for investments.


That is why the new or improved technology needs to be protected so that the patent holder will gain this exclusive rights. Once a Patent is granted, the Patent Holder has the sole right to commercially make, use, sell and assigned the invention for a period of time. Therefore, a patent holder has the right to prohibit other party to use or execute the invention. Same like Trademark, a Patent registration needs to be requested by filing a patent application at the Patents Office.
